Hi, I've downloaded and installed the X-Ray add-in for Arc Catalog as well as ArcMap.  No success with either.

Steps taken in Arc Catalogue:

  • Once downloaded, I installed it and it gave me the usual "Install Succeeded" pop-up.
  • Open Arc Catalogue and go to Customize\Add-in Manager, where I find the X-Ray Add-in is in fact there.
  • Open Customize Mode, click on Commands and there is supposed to be a category called Add-ins.
    • There is no Category with that name
  • No ability to use the newly installed Add-in X-ray.

Steps taken for ArcMap X-ray add-in:

  • Once downloaded, I installed it and it gave me the usual "Install Succeeded" pop-up.
  • Open ArcMap and find the toolbar available, but...
    • No buttons have icons and perform no task, see image attached.
  • No ability to use the newly installed Add-in X-ray.

I have attempted to remove the add-in and reinstall, no help.

If anyone else has had trouble like this and found a solution, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A quick question.

Do you have MS Office 2013 installed in your machine? MS Excel 2013 is a prerequisite for the X-ray extension.

Also check if you have enabled "X-Ray Extension for Geodatabases" from Customize > Extensions.

Yes, I have Excel 2013. After the successful installation it shows up in the Add-ons but not in the extensions.

dreimer‌: Try going through the installation process, then closing ArcMap/Catalog before enabling the extension and adding the buttons to toolbars.

I forgot to update...

Thank you to Jayanta and Allison for your input.

The solution came last week...

I was installing the add-on to my computer and it would install the add-on successfully, but not reveal the toolbar or the commands in the Customization pop-up.  So, as a try everything method, my colleague saved the add-on to a common folder for all of us to access from the network and then by adding the folder through the Options tab on Add-in manager, the toolbars and commands became available.

Not sure why this is a problem, but it's now running and that is the important thing.

Perhaps it is a network licensing issue?
