I have a map service hosted on a standalone ArcGIS Server 10.9.1. It was published from an mxd that has since been lost. I'd like a make a copy of that map service and host it on the same ArcGIS Server. The intent is to create a separate, secured version of the map service. Is there a tool that I can use to make copies of a map service? What if I create copies of the service's folders on the ArcGIS Server's Directories?

If I remember correctly, the ArcGIS Server actually created a copy of the MXD and placed it in one of the server directories. I know that it copied the mxd there because that's how I determined what feature services were published with ArcMap vs. ArcGIS Pro.

It's possible you might be able to find it in there. The folder location is: arcgissystem\arcgisinput

And then you'd need to find the correct folder from there, which you should be able to do by the feature service name.

Look for the ".mapx" file in the following folder

\arcgissystem\arcgisinput\<Services Folder>\<Map Service Name>.MapServer\extracted\p20

Import that file into a new ArcMap Pro project and republish.
