Hello,

I'm trying to publish a simple (Gazetteer) geocode service to the server (ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.1), but it says "Failed to publish service" without anymore information.  In the past I was able to publish in the same way without any issue.  Publishing other map/feature services are fine.  Checked the ArcGIS Server logs, but didn't see any warnings/errors, not even a trace of trying to publish.  What should I check next?

Thank you,

Emily

Hi Emily,

Is this a single address locator, or are you publishing a composite locator?

Do other locator styles (e.g. Single House) publish successfully? Or is it just Gazetteer?

Are you trying to copy the locator onto the Server machine, or reference it from a registered folder?

Hi Calvin,

Thanks for your reply.

It's a single locator, not composite.

I've tried both Single Field and Gazetteer geocoder. Both failed.

I'm trying to copy the locator to the server.

Thank you,

Emily

Hello Emily,

Can you publish any service to ArcGIS Server from your desktop? For example, are you able to publish a simple feature class as a map service successfully? This will help narrow down potential issues.

Hi Calvin,

Yes, publishing any other feature/map services to the server is fine.

Thanks,

Problem solved!  I was able to overwrite the geocode service using ArcGIS Pro 2.7.  Not sure why it didn't work from ArcGIS 10.7.1.  Anyway, it's good now.  Thanks a lot!
