Recommendation for GPS/GNSS units or system

Hello all,

I am working with a nonprofit that would like to purchase an updated GPS unit.  It is a small botanical garden in Central California.   They are looking for a unit that is easy to use for the volunteers.  The other option would be a good app for volunteers to download on their phones and purchase an receiver.  I have seen the Bad Elf 2300+ and the Garmin GLO but have no real data about how well they work, particularly with a mobile phone.  It would be best to have a unit that would work with both Android and iOS devices.  I know that Eos makes apps that work with both, but I haven't asked for a quote on their hardware and software.
