Why does Map Layout page size change between machines?

Created a map (mxd) on one machine as 11x17, opened it on another, and page appears as 8.5x11. Page and Print Set Up claim it's still 11x17, but need to select it again to remind it. Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
Similar thing has happened with another map on separate systems, where on re-opening it thinks it is D-size instead of 11x17.

In the Page Printer Setup do you have "Use Printer Paper Settings" checked on? Try unchecking it.

Indeed. You are right. Any thoughts on why the printer paper settings might change so drastically between systems? can one set a default in ArcMap?

The printer paper settings are determined by the individual default printer on each computer. We have no control over that.

Your options, if you want to leave that option checked on is to make sure you either use the same printer as the default printer on all computers or you make sure you all of the default printers on every computer have the same default page size set in the printer's properties.
