Team,

The extension supporting Raster types for Chinese satellite imagery in ArcGIS is available at http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=8a846c0fd69e4dbf82fe35ef5af71c26

However, for almost two years, the extension has been not updated yet. For example, latest GF-2 is not supported.

Wondering who is responsible for the development of this extension, ESRI Raster Dev team or Chinese organization (CRESDA & ASMAC)?

Any advice?

Hi Larry,

The Chinese Raster Type plugin is developed by the joint effort of Esri China and Esri Raster Development team. The second version of the plugin has included the support of GF-1. Due to some technical issue, the help page still points to the first version. we are working on updating the link and will let you know once it is done. If you need it before the help page is repaired, I can send you the setup file.

The support of GF-2 will be available in future release.

Hong

thx, Dan

just receive the call from CRESDA and confirme us that GF-2 uses the same sensor model as QuickBird RPC, which is just like WorldView-3 using GeoEye RPC model..

Hi Larry,

Does this sufficiently answer your question?  If not, I've forwarded this to the team that wrote the whitepaper on our support for this extension, and they'll be checking back in to this post.  Perhaps we need to update the whitepaper...

Thanks!

thx, renee,

Generally, when using QuickBird RPC in ArcGIS Mosaic Dataset with GF-2, it works, which can read majority of parameters from metadata file.

However, similar to WorldView-3 (using GeoEye-1 RPC), both sensor name and data product type are not able to read and display in Mosaic Dataset. For example, WV-3 or GF-2....

So, it is highly necessary to update the extension or directly append Mosaic Dataset model to support WorldView-3 and GF-2...
