I'm struggling with the visualisation of 3D meshes with ArcGIS Pro and Portal Scenes and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to improve this process or has overcome it already. My current workflow is to convert a point cloud dataset to a textured mesh (usually using Cyclone 3DR) and then exporting this to an OBJ file. I then import this into ArcGIS Pro using the Import 3D Files geotools which I later convert into a Scene Layer Package and upload.
At this stage I start to have issues with clipping priority with the ground surfaces and have to go through the process of generating another surface model to overcome this. I do note that integrated meshes behave slightly different in this regard with a higher clipping priority than the ground fixing this issue.
Is it possible to convert a multipatch to an integrated mesh or is there a option I am able to change to how the mesh interacts with the ground?
@JamesHead-Mears1 , do you need a mesh? Have you tried the "Create Create Point Cloud Scene Layer" Geoprocessing tool to create a point cloud scene layer which can be utilised in a scene?
Hello James,
It appears that integrated mesh scene layers supersede any basemap or elevation layers in the scene. It does appear that there are some options for controlling how the mesh scene interacts with other layers in a web scene and I've linked to the resource below. Are you using an elevation layer that is associated with the mesh or the Esri world elevation service?
