Imagery Summit at Esri UC 2024 Preview: Welcome to an Era of Imagery Innovation!

Published on ‎07-09-2024 12:29 PM by Esri Contributor | Updated on ‎07-10-2024 10:07 AM

We are living in a revolutionary time for imagery and remote sensing. With more data sources than ever before—from the powerful cameras in our pockets to satellites that can be tasked as easily as calling a rideshare—the sky is no longer the limit. The true challenge for all of us lies in transforming this abundance of imagery into meaningful insights through GIS workflows. This is the power of the pixel.

Our Esri imagery and remote sensing team is thrilled to invite you to the Imagery Summit at the 2024 Esri User Conference (Esri UC). Together, we'll dive into how the integration of imagery and GIS can address real-world challenges in innovative ways. This summit is about coming together to share knowledge, spark creativity, and discover how the robust tools and solutions found in ArcGIS can empower us all to incorporate imagery into our projects effectively.

Whether your interest lies in drone operations, 3D and digital twins, high-resolution satellite data, imagery management, or processing and analysis, ArcGIS offers solutions to elevate your work. Don’t just take our word for it—experience inspiring user stories and live technical demos that showcase how innovative users are leveraging ArcGIS technology to tackle real-world challenges and achieve extraordinary results.

Join us to connect with fellow enthusiasts, learn from experts, and be part of a vibrant community pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Read on for a sneak peek into the summit agenda!

Esri’s Emerging Vision for Imagery and Remote Sensing

With rapid advancements in imagery data and technology, Esri is taking a collaborative and intentional approach to help users get in the fast lane from imagery to insight. To kick off our summit, we’ll introduce our innovative road map and the many ways you can engage with our expanding network through the formal launch of the Esri Imagery and Remote Sensing Insights (IRIS) Community. Through IRIS, you'll learn how to share your ideas and projects with a global community, engage with subject matter experts, receive technical support, stay updated on cutting-edge capabilities and research, and connect with GIS and imagery enthusiasts worldwide.

Keynote

For our keynote, we are honored to welcome Dr. Kelly Luis, a distinguished scientist from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Dr. Luis uses imagery and remote sensing to monitor water quality and enriches her scientific work with traditional knowledge from her upbringing as a Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) woman in Hawaii. She will share her invaluable insights on the importance of integrating local knowledge when examining our planet from space.

User Stories and Applications

Ready to witness real-world solutions in action? Our User Stories and Applications session showcases inspiring user stories with dynamic demonstrations that highlight the transformative power of imagery and GIS technology. Learn how these technologies solve challenges in state and local governments, federal agencies, commercial organizations, and international nonprofit organizations.

  • Discover how Alaska monitors potential and active hazards across nearly 700,000 square miles of land with a robust and advanced drone program to ensure citizen safety.
  • Find out how federal agencies create collaborative platforms that enable scientists nationwide to access petabytes of data in one place.
  • Explore robust systems of record for development and construction that elevate and maintain precise project management from start to finish.
  • Learn how to digitize and integrate decades of historical imagery into your GIS alongside newer data.
  • Find out how nonprofit organizations can easily view and analyze environmental changes over an entire continent.

Learn about these success stories straight from the source and witness the technology driving these solutions in action.

Partner Program and Spotlight

Esri's extensive network of formal partners unlocks new possibilities with ArcGIS tools. By integrating software, hardware, and data into ArcGIS, our imagery partners elevate user solutions to new heights. In our Partner Spotlight, we’ll hear from our partner, SkyWatch, to learn how to seamlessly access high-resolution satellite imagery archives and task a satellite for a specific area of interest and date, all without ever having to leave ArcGIS.

Imagery and Remote Sensing Tools Experience

Esri imagery and remote sensing teams continuously innovate to bring you the latest in technology and applications. In our product feature session, experts will dive into:

  • Accessing pre-built GeoAI models and free imagery data in ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World
  • Building digital twins and 3D data
  • Seamlessly storing, accessing, and sharing imagery data within and across your organization

The Imagery Summit is just the beginning of a week filled with in-depth imagery sessions, designed to empower you to integrate GIS and imagery seamlessly. Our goal is for you to leave the Esri UC with the knowledge and tools to gain a panoramic perspective of your world and transform your workflows.

Imagery Summit Social

After the summit, stretch your legs, grab some brand-new imagery and remote sensing Esri Swag, debrief your new ideas for how to add imagery to your GIS projects, and chat with speakers at the Imagery Social immediately following the summit!
