Have created a simple model like so:

input polygon data/shapefile > select field1="A" > buffer that for 30 metters > output a shapefile (see screenshot).

With Editor in ArcMap, those polygons can be selected and hit merge to one polygon.

I've tried to Select all these polygons and use the Merge tool again in the model but it didn't work.

Where shall I go from here to solve the puzzle?

Thanks.

Use the Dissolve tool.

For future reference, when you run the Buffer tool, there are options to choose whether you want the output buffers dissolved or not.

Right it's available for the Buffer tool not the Merge or Union tool. Thanks Dale!
