Geoprocessing tool, 'Calculate Geometry' takes an inordinate amount of time to complete the full action.
The ArcGIS Pro 2.3 software will reveal that the task is complete, yet take forever to release itself from the 'Spinning Wheel' and allow the user to continue with any further operations.
Other Projects and other .mxd files can complete this task in short order, and release control back to the user, but not the Project in question. The layers have been exported to a new Project, but still same problem occurs.
The project has several definition queries set and subsequent layers, by year. Could this be the issue here? There is only one Database and One Feature Class, but several layers displayed based on different definition queries.
Is there anything in the settings to help with this besides exporting the shapefile, calculating, then adjusting the entries manually, or creating a new document from scratch, or using another software like GeoMedia?
You said shapefile. Have you tried the same operation with the data saved as a featureclass in a local file geodatabase?
Yes, it is a Feature Class. It is exported as a shapefile to be able to perform the operation, as stated.
