This will no doubt be blindingly obvious to most of you but I have not dealt with python scripts at all so here goes...

I recently downloaded an ArcScipt (http://arcscripts.esri.com/details.asp?dbid=15132) for creating a many to one feature extraction as discussed in this topic (http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=93&f=1729&t=256149).

The script comes with 3 toolbox files and 2 python files. I have tried to add the toolboxes to ArcToolbox ('Add Toolbox...') but nothing seems to happen; I have also tried to run the python scripts using the python GUI but neither seem to work.

It appears as though others within the ESRI forum have managed to at least got to the stage of being able to run the tool so I must be doing something wrong!

Long story short, what is the correct way to run a python script?

Thanks!

Well you have two, lets call them tool sheds. One that is full of system toolboxes and one of any toolboxes you created. The My Toolboxes shed is at the bottom of the file tree in Catalog. Have you looked there?
