I am working on my final project for a GIS class, and I have been given an excel spreadsheet (csv) with addresses, cities, zip codes, and some other information. I am supposed to geocode it into a shapefile, but I don't know how to do that without using x,y data. When I just add the table itself to ArcMap, it doesn't have an attribute table or anything I can work with further. I don't have an ArcGIS subscription that allows me to use the Geocode Addresses feature, and my professor hasn't been much help, so please let me know what I should do!

If you don't have more than 250 records you can use https://batchgeo.com/

Has the instructor provided a geocoding service with which to match your address table?  If your class has an AGOL account you can upload the spreadsheet and it'll geocode the addresses for you that way.  It takes AGOL credits though; your instructor should have all that set up for you. (In theory...)

That should just about do it....
