Combining polygons by attribute

Hello everbody,

Need help with one solution.

I have polygon layer with numeric attribute in it. It varies between 1 and 3000. Now I need to organize smaller polygons into larger polygons so that all of them would have this attribute around 3000. I tried Grouping analysis but the result was not that I need to get.

Anyone has some ideas?

I am not too clear what your goal is. Are you trying to dissolve features to make larger polygons based on your numeric attribute, or something else?

Yes, close to that. But dissolved polygons should be also neighbors.

It should be a kind of growing polygons from seeds with concatenating their values in attribute field until they reach a value of 3000.

Sounds like you are attempting a zonal design, where the counts are number of people and the polygons are some sort of enumeration area? Have you heard of the AZTool? You can download it from here and if you use Google you can find further details on its use.
