Hi there!

I am currently having a little problem with some analyses I want to do for a colleague. Here's the story.

- Based on  point data set, we want to create a buffer layer.
- This buffer layer schould be clipped with a land use map (polygon).
- The result should be a dataset of buffers containing the information of the land use map.

The Problem:

After clipping (buffer with landuse), ArcGIS has merged all overlapping buffers into polygons. But we need the results of each single buffer, the merged overlapping buffers dont really help.

I hope I was able to explain the problem in an understandable way... 😉

I looking forward to your help!

The Intersect tool should give you all overlapping portions, remaining separate. You can think of Clip as a cookie cutter - it only cares about geometry.
