I am trying to run a clip with a couple of very large shapefiles. The original file that needs to be clipped had about 19,000 records and I think because of its size the clip would never complete (i.e. it appeared to stall during the run for hours at a time without making any progress). So to try and reduce the number of records I ran a dissolve for the attribute that I was interested in to combine a number of disjointed polygons into one. After the dissolve I have about 4,000 records. Now when I try to run the clip I get.
ERROR 999999: Error executing function.
Invalid Topology [Duplicate segment.]
Failed to execute (Clip).
I tried repairing geometry, which fixed a lot of "self intersections", but I still get the error when running the clip.
Does anyone know how I might fix this problem?
