I am aware that ESRI has put up Versioning on their ArcGIS help online but is there that has PDF ?

What is a version?—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

But I'd like to get some tips from you that might be helpful to me. My supervisor wrote down the steps on how to do it. I want to understand it better and how it works.

They can be tutorial, brochure, video, etc...For the video, I'd like to have either subtitles or Closed-captioned.

Thanks,

One of the best explanations in brief I came across was in this link: Versioning 101

PDF: http://www.esri.com/news/arcuser/0110/files/versioning101.pdf

I'll suggest going through all the ArcGIS Help resource for a sound understanding of the Topic: An overview of versioning—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

I find the resource lists of links they publish for some of the classes are always good.  This one is for

https://community.esri.com/docs/DOC-2803

Which talks about geodatabases and there is a section on versioning.

Hi Robert,

There are a couple of older Esri whitepapers on the topic available as well:

Hope this helps,

There is a Implementing Versioned Workflows in a Multiuser Geodatabase Instructor Led class that may benefit you as well.

And the class resource for that

Implementing Versioned Workflows in a Multiuser Geodatabase (10.4) Course Resources

RE are actually resource lists for many of the classes....look at the documents in this training space to see others.
