Geodatabase lock

How do I remove a lock on a file geodatabase that I created?  I'm the only one that is using the gdb and I've closed everything down and reopened and I still get a failed to connect lock error.

There may be latent ArcMap or AcrCatalog processes running.  You can check using your task manager.  I have found rebooting usually clears the locks.
