Will the File GDB API be enabled to be used cross plattform?

I am wondering, why a C++ API should be windows only.
This API might be usefull for other plattforms as well, if someone developes f.e. with the ArcGIS Engine.

Thanks for an answer or idea for further developement of the API.

We have been working on a Linux version of the API. We expect to post a beta version sometime in February.

The Linux Beta was posted today. You download it from:

Do you plan to support Windows Mobile in the near future?

Thanks,

Not for the first release of the API. We will consider a Windows Mobile release at a later release.

What about 64-bit Linux? 64-bit Windows?

64-bit windows is supported in Beta2.

We have no plans for 64-bin Linux.

Our system running on RHAS requires use of 64 bit JVM, so unless there is a way to load 32 bit shared objects into a 64 bit process, we can't use this long-awaited API in its current form.  It seems others are in the same boat.  Can you please (pretty please?) provide a 64 bit version for Linux?

We are working on a Linux 64-bit release of the File Geodatabase API. It will not release with the 1.0 release of the API, but as a part of a follow on release later this year.
