My name is Silvia, and it's a great pleasure to join this community of GIS enthusiasts and professionals who have found Esri products to be trusted companions in their work. I'm from Italy, specifically living in the southern part of the country, in the province of Messina, Sicily.
My background is in geological sciences. After my studies, a research grant introduced me to the world of GIS and ArcGIS Pro software, and I haven't looked back since. I spent nights and weekends delving into geospatial data and remote sensing, which ultimately shaped my career as a geologist into that of a GIS analyst.
In parallel, I work as a freelance science communicator on social media under the name @SilviaIlacqua.geo, where I talk about geology, geospatial data, satellite imagery, and remote sensing. I am currently in the first year of my Ph.D. in GIS Science, with a project focused on integrating real-time sensors into GIS using 3D visualizations and analysis.
