Software licensing
Future workbooks published by Esri Press that come with a one-year Student Use Software License have a new sign-up process. This license is available to users in the United States, subject to current terms and conditions.
To sign up, follow these steps.
1. Locate the Promo Code that comes with participating books and e-books.
(a) Print books have a code printed inside the back cover.
(b) E-books purchased through VitalSource will be labeled courseware. A code is provided by VitalSource after purchase. Visit links.esri.com/BookCode for help in locating this code.
2. Go to links.esri.com/TrialCode to start.
3. Click Add to cart. The license is added to your cart.
4. Click Go to cart.
5. Click Continue Checkout.
6. A public account must be used to redeem the license. Do you have a public account?
Yes: Enter your credentials.
No: Click to sign up for a public account and activate it. Then, enter your credentials.
7. Does the system recognize you and display an existing customer number?
Yes: You will need to create a new customer number as follows. In the Shopping Cart, click to edit your customer number, and click Create a new customer number. Under New Customer Number, choose Personal.
No: Under New Customer Number, choose Personal.
8. Click Continue to Checkout.
9. In the Order Summary section, enter the Promo Code.
10. Click Apply, note the full discount is applied, and click Review Order.
11. Review and submit the order. You will receive an order fulfillment confirmation email that will provide instructions on finalizing your account details and obtaining software access.
12. In your order fulfillment email, click the MyEsri link.
13. Click Activate Subscription to activate your license.
14. Under Activate your organizational subscription, select By converting an existing ArcGIS Public Account.
15. Click Upgrade account.
16. Set up your organization information, then Click Save and Continue.
You are now ready to use your Student Use Software License, enjoy!
