HI All,
We are trying out geoportal server from ESRI's geoportal online website, and when we try to add a resource pointing to our arcgis server powered services link - http://geodev.usc.edu:6080/arcgis/rest/services it says unable to connect to host, any ideas? the URL works for us. What can we do to have geoportal server recognize the server / services? If we are successful in harvesting our services, we may moe forward to actually installing geoportal server on our machines. Any help / suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Ashwini

for what's its worth I have successfully added your URL to my test geoportal (v1.2.2)

administer->add-> network resource-> selected arcgis protocol

so i guess the problem is not on your side.

sorry i cannot help you more!

Hello hkendall,

Thanks, for trying. So that means our site is fine as it is and it works?  We are looking into installing geoportal server here, we are an educational institution and we were trying to see if our services can be successfully harvested by the geoportal server - demo site. Well, I may still need to demonstrate working of geoportal server to my colleagues. Is there anything particular about your setup that might be different than ESRI's? well, if you have any ideas / suggestions do let me know.

Update: So we have installed geoportal server, or rather are in the process of eliminating associated errors, and the geoportal service emntioned above was successfully harvested, so like hkendall pointed out it was not an issue with our service.

Thanks.

Hi Ashwini,

What did you have to do to fix this issue. My geoportal server is also behaving similarly.

I am unable to harvest ArcGIS Online Services successfully from our geoportal installation.

I get Unable to connect to the host. error every time for external map services. Intranet services just work fine.

Thanks,

Anand

Hello Anand,
It was a while back, I think the problem was with configuration of our jdbc driver. Hope it helps.

Ashwini,

Thanks for the suggestion. I initially had that issue but that did not fix the problem.

On further investigation, what I observed was I had upgraded the website to 1.2.4 and my database was still having system tables from 1.2.2.

It looks like there was some schema/data change from 1.2.2 to 1.2.4. Once I update the system tables using the scripts for 1.2.4, it all started working fine again.

Thanks and Regards,

Anand
