Why does the length field not show up in a service created when used in an online map?

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out why the Length data does not show up in the Online map.

It is on when the service is created.

Hi Haldimand,

This is currently a limitation of ArcGIS Online due to the way ArcGIS Online hosted feature services are stored.  There have been enhancements logged for this:

NIM093828 : Expose geometry fields (length, area, etc.) for read-only display in feature services.

ENH-000088963 : Provide a method to automatically calculate Shape fields (Length and Area) in ArcGIS Online.

The workaround is to create a field before publishing and calculate the desired geometry (length, area, etc).

Blythe Spendlove‌ I have not heard of any updates on this, but you can easily display area/length using Arcade.  Take a look at the Geometry Functions, specifically the Area and Length.  Ex:
