Most GIS platforms were designed for a different era.

Before AI agents.
Before cloud-native analytics.
Before real-time spatial intelligence.

So I started building NexaMap — an open-source GIS platform designed for the next generation of geospatial systems.

Think:

🗺️ GIS + AI
☁️ GIS + Modern Data Platforms
GIS + Real-time Analytics
🤖 GIS + Agentic Workflows

Current capabilities already include:

✔️ Interactive desktop GIS experience
✔️ Spatial analysis & editing
✔️ GeoJSON / Shapefile / KML / GeoPackage support
✔️ Direct integration with DuckDB, Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Iceberg
✔️ Extensible Electron-based architecture

But this is bigger than a map viewer.

The vision is to create an intelligent geospatial platform where:

  • AI agents can reason spatially
  • Massive datasets can be queried instantly
  • Spatial workflows become composable
  • Developers can build domain-specific GeoAI applications

I’m looking for collaborators who want to help shape this vision.

Especially:

  • GIS Engineers
  • Electron / Frontend Developers
  • GeoAI Researchers
  • Data Engineers
  • Open-source contributors
  • Anyone excited about the future of spatial computing

If this space interests you, let’s build together.
