Hello everybody!

I am a programmer but totally new to ArcGis. I have been asked to create a pop-up style thingy for data input.

The idea is:

  1. Load the shape files on a tablet (which is not necessarily online)
  2. display the map and click on an object (polygon) in the map to get a little UI (dialog window like pop-up)
  3. set attributes for the object easily in the dialog window
  4. close the dialog to store the input in attribute table

I have been searching the online help for any quick hint on where to investigate further but was overwhelmed 😉

I need somebody to give me the right direction:

  • What ArcGis products/ SDK's/ combination of technolgies... are able to this?
  • What to search for in the help?

Many thanks in advance!

Holger

Hi folks,

since there was no answer on this (perhaps too easy) question I will answer it myself.

Anybody else who needs to to program something while new to the ArcGIS universe should start with:

Developer's guide—ArcGIS Runtime SDK for .NET | ArcGIS for Developers

cheers
