Hello,

I am early in my career, and I have a few years experience as a technician and an analysis.  I was wondering if you guys could give me any advice for getting into GIS development?  I feel like this would be a very useful for a career as well as personal gain.  I cannot go back to school at this point, so anything else would be handy!  For example, what book or website?   How to practice?  Consider me at the basic/beginner level.

Any advice would be useful.  Thank you!

Hi Kenric,

I would say go to ArcGIS for Developers  and pick your flavor from the list of SDKs.

It should be pretty easy to start with any of the ArcGIS Runtimes. In addition to this you can also have a look at one of the web APIs like JavaScript. You can start learning this without any costs. And there are a lot of samples and tutorials in our documentation.

Regards,

David
