Looking at Data Pipelines and how it could be used to manipulate data and automate new workflows instead of developing Model Builder tools in ArcGIS Pro, but we found we were limited with few geometry modifying tools.
IDEA: Add the "Dissolve" tool to Data Pipelines so that features can be buffered and potentially used in other existing (or new) tools.
Our use case was to take a layer with lots of polygons (plantations) and wanted to dissolve to get larger compartment multi-part polygons that could then trigger (via popup URL) and be passed as geometry to a Survey123 form on an annual schedule for regular inspections.
Hi @LindsayRaabe_FPCWA ,
We're excited to announce that with the November 2024 update of ArcGIS Online there is now a Dissolve tool available in Data Pipelines.
With the Dissolve tool, you can combine polygons or polylines based on shared or intersecting edges, shared attributes, or a combination of both. Additionally, you can use the summary fields parameter to calculate statistics for the records that have been combined.
Check out the What's New in ArcGIS Data Pipelines blog for a quick demo of the tool: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-online/announcements/whats-new-in-arcgis-data-pipel...
For more tool specific information, see the documentation here: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/data-pipelines/latest/process/dissolve.htm
Thank you for your feedback and helping us prioritize new features! Try it out and let us know how it works in your workflow.
Thanks again,
Bethany
Awesome news. I'll have to revisit what I was trying and see if it's a more suitable workflow compared to what I ended up implementing!
