The link is no longer valid and I can't find the article by searching the title. Can you post an updated link?
Thanks.
Hi Sean - That KB article (KB40009) has been pulled from external web because it does not apply to all software versions or types of views (depending upon how created) and was not a recommended workflow for database views to be registered with the geodatabase.
If you create a view via command line it is no longer possible to register that view with the geodatabase starting at 10.3 (NIM101805). Previous releases would allow this if the view was created via the command line tools. Views that are created using the 'Create database view' tool also cannot be registered with the geodatabase. There are enhancements and Ideas out there on this topic for the ability to be able to register views with the geodatabase in future releases. Please check these out! http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=087E00000005A9tIAE

ENH-000086635 - Add functionality to register database views with the geodatabase
Note within this link there is a statement about views:
Because ArcGIS cannot add an ObjectID field to a view or update the values in an existing ObjectID field in a view, you cannot register a view with the geodatabase.
Melissa,
I'm disappointed that functionality would go away, even though it there is a technical reason, and we have to put in enhancement requests to get it back! At last years User Conf they kept saying at the Enterprise Database island that all functionality of the SDE Command Line tools would make it into the final release of 10.3. Then it doesn't happen. It's an all too common experience with ESRI software. And I say that as a fan of ESRI for 25 years.
It's a year and a half since you mentioned the enhancement request and it's still not possible to add metadata to the sql database views that replaced sde views. Is there any update on this? Is it even being worked on?
Thanks
