I created a line shape file and added 24 features to it.  Saving edits throughout and then saving edits and stopping editing session to take a break.  I closed arcGIS (Version 10) and saved the map document.  Upon going back to another editing session, and adding another feature, I'm now getting an error message that it cannot save because of empty geometry or that there is a lock on the file (I've gotten both messages on several occasions).  I have done repair geometry several times.  I've checked geometry (no errors) a few times. I've started a blank map document, saved it and then tried editing in that document - all to no avail.  I have not been able to add a feature since the first session when I created the shape file.  I have full permissions to the folder in which the file resides.  What else can I try to fix this file - short of starting over.

Well, apparently it is a permissions issue.  Although I'm supposed to have full permissions to the folder it was in.  I copied it to my local drive and now I'm able to edit it.  I also deleted it from the network drive.  So I guess I have create and destroy, but not edit permissions.  I'll have to talk to IT about that.  Anyway, I'm back in business for the time being.
