Removing Section of Roads?

Hey everyone!

I have been trying to figure out how to properly remove a section of a road, I tried starting an editing session on the roads layer but  it won't let me select the road.


Also how can I change a different road from highway to a primary haul road? (just a different color for the legend)

Make sure the layer is "Selectable" under the Table of Contents (4th icon to the right)

Once selected edit the Attributes and change the particular field  from "highway" to "primary haul road?"
