We are running SQLServer 2012 and not using SDE connections. We are also using all 10.2 products (Desktop and Server). We understand that the dataset privileges can only be managed by ArcGIS since the database does not recognize datasets. We want to know more about the pros and cons of managing user privileges with the SQLServer Management Studio at the table level vs. using ArcGIS and managing user privileges at the dataset level. Also, have any testing metrics been done with one vs the other?
