Polyline Shapefile with single feature to multi feature

I have a shapefile of contour lines, the problem is it is a single feature. I need to break the line into multiple lines and give it an elevation value. What would be the best tool to use?

The 'Explode' tool on the Advanced Editing toolbar will create many lines from one, as long as they are separate (multipart).

I was thinking one could use the mulitpart to single part tool.

Hey Guys,

Thank you very much for the help. The Explode tool works perfectly. As simple as select feature and press the Explode Tool on advanced editing tool bar!
