I am starting a project for school using a handheld Garmin (Oregon 550t) and I was more than a little surprised to see how the GPX to Features tool only brings in points and doesn’t create the track as a line. After doing some searching I seem to be finding that all posts about this are 3 or more years old. There seems to have been wide spread interest in improving this tool but as of yet I haven’t found a promising solution. What links I am finding are generally broken (due to age). I see this as an opportunity to create the needed tool as a part of my project, but I obviously don’t want to recreate the wheel. What is the current buzz (if any) on the existence and/or need for an improved GPX conversion?
BUT the first help topic describes the process to produce them, so read carefully
ps you can also try this to go the other way http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=067d6ab392b24497b8466eb8447ea7eb
Thanks Dan, this will prove very helpful. I was able to create the lines; with these instructions it wasn't hard. I will see if I can streamline it for my project and if I accomplish something worth sharing I will do so.
Galen, you might want to move this thread to https://community.esri.com/community/gis/managing-data?sr=search&searchId=f6806b25-73bf-479f-b868-b8... rather than the developer's place if you need more help on this issue.
