Hi,
I'd like to create a new topology, but when I click on the feature data set, then new, topology is greyed out (as anything else, except feature class).
Does anybody know how to fix that?
Thanks for your help!

What license class of ArcGIS Desktop are you using?  Usually ArcEditor or ArcInfo is needed to
make structural changes to data like this.

I'm using ArcMap 9.3.1. Shouldn't that include topology?

Open ArcMap and take a look at the very top left corner.  It should read something similar to:

Untitiled - ArcMap - ArcView

Untitled = Map Document Name
ArcMap = Product
ArcView = License level

Or you can go to Help > About ArcMap.  This should also list the license type.

If you are using ArcView you will not have the ability to create a geodatabase topology.  There are 3 license levels for ArcGIS Desktop:  ArcView, ArcEditor, and ArcInfo.  You will need at least an ArcEditor license to create a geodatabase topology.

Is there another possibility to establish rules in feature classes, like "don't overlap"? Or correct splines? Except using topology?
