Hello,

I have multiple .LAZ files and I'm assuming they need to be converted to .LAS in order to load them into ArcMap. I've been researching all morning and I believe I'm getting myself more confused. I was wondering if any knows how to do this conversion in with ArcMap or possible a script though I am very new to programming.

Thanks,

seems to be an issue, but read the threads in here

The above link (https://community.esri.com/ideas/13482) is no longer valid.

I know this is an older thread but that 'idea' has gotten a little confusing and a bit outdated (and still is not implemented).

The documentation points you to go to create a scene layer package, but this tool has been deprecated. You now have to go to:

Create Point Cloud Scene Layer Package—Data Management toolbox | ArcGIS Desktop

Here, you can bring in your LAZ file into this scene layer package that you make

And fill in the rest of the blanks with the right info. I hope ArcGIS Pro starts to natively view LAZ files!

Or, you could just use the Convert LAS tool.

Convert LAS—Conversion toolbox | ArcGIS Desktop

Yeah, this works. Open it in batch mode and drop all of your laz files in and get them into las format.
