Hello,

How do you create a metric map grid in ArcMap.

One that does not show Lat's and Long's values but UTM metric values

Thank you

If you want a set of metric-based (projected coordinate system) lines and neatline in a layout,

(optional: set the data frame's coordinate system to the PCS you want to use for the grid

  1. Right-click Layer in the table of contents and select properties.
  2. In the data frame properties, select the Grid tab
  3. Start the wizard and select Measured Grid
  4. On the next panel, if you didn't set the data frame to the grid's PCS, change the coordinate system here (default is to use the data frame's)
  5. Set the X and Y interval values on the same panel.
  6. The rest of the wizard sets the line styles and some other properties.

To see the grid, you have to be in the layout view.

If you want to have a grid or mesh in the data view, take a look at the Create Fishnet tool.

You can produce the map using UTM or you can set the data frame to a UTM projection, then bring in Long-Lat data or you can physically project a Long-Lat file into UTM
