Issue with Geo trace in Survey123: Form Crashes on Long Trips

Greetings,

I wanted to ask if anyone has encountered the same challenge I'm currently facing. I’ve created a Survey123 form for our drivers to record their trips to the field. The form works well for shorter distances (up to around 30 km), but when tracking longer distances, the form crashes and all collected data is lost.

I'm unsure whether the issue is due to a time limit in the app’s tracking capabilities, or if there’s a limit to the number of vertices that can be recorded in a geotrace question.

Any insights, suggestions, or solutions from your experience would be greatly appreciated.

Methusela Lameck.

Hey @MethuselaLameck

Have you attempted to make a copy of your Survery123 form and try it out on a new feature layer? It may be having issues writing to the layer itself as the information could be very large, is this on ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise as well?

Oh i haven't, let me try that. I've used survey123 connect to create the form, and i am using ArcGIS online.

If you don't mind me asking, does the feature layer hold some limitations to certain capabilities of the survry123 form?

Hey @MethuselaLameck

Thank you for your setup! In theory the feature layer should hold no limitations on the capabilities of the form, the most pressing issue would be if the feature layer may have been bugged or in some error state. This is much more likely to happen in ArcGIS Enterprise, but Online shouldn't have as many of these issues, please let me know what the results of the attempt are and we can check it out again, hopefully better results!
