I am having trouble downloading ArcPad10 and Field tools for ArcPad onto my new windows mobile device.
The device is a Topcon GRS-1 GPS unit. Evertime I try to load ArcPad onto the device from my Windows 7 computer (I also tried on a Windows XP system-same problem), it starts to download, but about a minute in I receive a message on the computer screen that says connection has been lost between the device and the computer, to reconnect the device and try again. The GPS unit is connected by USB. When I unconnect and reconnect the device, the computer gives me a message stating that it doesn't recognize the device.
If I reset the GPS, the computer will recognize it but as soon as I try to load any software the same thing happens all over again.
Things I have tried and our IT people have tried: (none have worked)
using a different computer
using a different USB cable
installing drivers(computer says the current driver is installed)
Resetting the unit
uninstalling ArcPad and re-installing
The system on the device is Windows Mobile 6.1 and it had ArcPad on it at one time, however it was accidentally removed when trying to solve the problem.
No one seems to know what to do about this. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas of how to fix it? I would greatly appreciate any assistance!
I'm not sure if the problem is with ArcPad or with the device...
