I have some Trimble devices using ArcPad 8 and I'll have some using ArcPad 10 very soon. Does anyone know if you can have both versions installed and have access to both versions simutaneously without having to create a virtual environment or cloud?

Unfortunately, you can not have two different versions of ArcPad installed at the same time.  You will have to uninstall ArcPad 8 in order to install ArcPad 10.

You can, however, utilize checkouts from either version.  If you check out with ArcPad 10 you should be able to consume that data with ArcPad 8 (and visa versa).

You'll have to install ArcPad 8 and 10 on different machines if you want to move forward with both versions.  Only one version per mobile device as well.

Thank you!

To make sure I understand, I can upgrade to ArcPad10 and checkout data for my ArcPad8 devices. They will be able to capture data using the ArcPad8 software and I will be able to check in the data with the ArcPad10 software. Is that right?

You can have both (on desktop computer).  Just rename the arcpad 8 folder when you install 10 (or rename the arcpad 10 folder when you install 😎  then it wont be able to find the unintall file and just runs through anyway.
