I am running the demo version of ArcPad 10 on a Trimble Juno.  I have a field called photo that will capture the image.  When I am in ArcPad the size of the photo seems to be locked on 169x120 or something like that.  I want to increase the size of the photo it captures.  I have increased the image size on the integrated camera settings, but this does not seem to have any effect when I take the pic inside ArcPad.  I have searched around but can't seem to find a way to increase the image size.  Am I missing something.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Doug Kotnik

Hey, just wondering if you have managed to figure out a solution to this problem. I'm currently having the same problem and would like to change the mini camera window to full screen. any advice you can give me would be most grateful

Could changing the picture quality setting on the camera tab in the ArcPad Options dialog help?

You might be encountering a known limit with ArcPad 10 on Trimble Juno units. It is CQ00311800; ArcPad Camera: Photo preview and capture on Juno SC is 'grainy'. Currently there is no option to change the default image size. This is a known limit of Trimble Juno support for the DirectShow API used by ArcPad Camera. The option is greyed out because only one resolution is available through DirectShow. To achieve higher picture resolution customer should use the Windows Mobile Camera extension which will allow full control of the picture resolution.

You need to go into ArcPad.  Go to Advanced Settings then Extensions.  Uncheck the "ArcPad Camera" Extension.  Make sure that the "Windows Mobile Camera" extension is checked.

Then go Options.  Then to Camera.  Make sure that the "Windows Mobile Camera" is the choosen camera in the drop down menu.  Adjust the picture quality as you feel fit.  Hit Ok and you are set.  In Arcpad you will take a picture just like you did before when using the ArcPad camera extension.

Now you will be able to take full resolution photos in ArcPad.

Thank you for the info, smetoo. I could not figure out why my photos were all showing up as green images. Once I unchecked the arcpad extension, my issues were solved.

I have tried to change to windows camera in ArcPad 10 on my JUNO SB, but first of all it is very very slow to open up! Furthermore the photo is turning green when I return to the picturepage.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Pictures appearing green in ArcPad when utilizing the Windows Mobile Camera is a known issue within ArcPad.  At this point in time, the ArcPad development team is working with Trimble to enhance the way that the integrated camera is utilized within ArcPad, such as the current inability to change the resolution of the picture.

CQ00312842: Pictures taken with the Windows Mobile Camera on a Trimble Juno appear solid green.

The following workaround has been found to produce proper pictures when utilizing the Windows Mobile Camera with a Trimble Juno.

1. Perform a factory reset on the Juno device.  To do this, power down the Juno.  While powered off, hold the two application buttons (horizontal line buttons) and power on the device.  Continue to hold the application buttons until you see "Hive Clean" displayed on the screen.  The device will power on and will be reset to factory settings.
2. Deploy ArcPad.
3. Start ArcPad > Create a quick project (defaults) > do not turn on the GPS.
4. By default, the ArcPad camera is used.  Before ever taking a picture, go to the Main Tools toolbar > Options > Camera tab.  Switch the camera from the ArcPad Camera to the Windows Mobile Camera.
5. Go to the Drawing Tools toolbar and select a new point > click on the map to add a new point.
6. Go to the Picture tab > click on the camera icon > take a new picture > click OK.  Notice that the picture is taken correctly, it is not sold green.

After this, switching between the ArcPad and Windows Mobile Camera will always produce a normal picture when using the Windows Mobile Camera.

If the ArcPad Camera is used before you use the Windows Mobile Camera, the Windows Mobile Camera will always produce green pictures.

Hope this helps.

The new ArcPad SP2 seems to deal with the problems about lag time, although only by auto-rotating the camera...
