I'm working on a pretty standard workflow to inspect valves, using Workforce to create assignments, then the field crew starts the assignment, then they "Survey at Assignment." So I have Survey123 integrated with the project and I also chose what fields I want passed to Survey123. I am using the latest IOS (IOS 13.7). I originally tried to use the Workforce Classic app but NONE of my projects even show up there. So I moved to the new Workforce App. I can now see all my workforce projects. When the field worker starts the assignment, then clicks "Survey at Assignment" I expect it to open my coordinating inspection form in Survey123 and pass information to the form. But instead it opens safari to a page saying "Download on your mobile device to fill out this form."
It will not open Survey123. Even if the browser prompts me to open the app, it doesn't even open the form.
Update** it works fine on android, but IOS isn't working. Also Survey123 crashes in IOS when you have calculations in your form!
survey at assignment survey123 integration workforce **** survey123 survey123 workforce workforce on ios survey123 ios ios 13 survey123 crash
Keep in mind I'm only having this issue on iOS. I'm using an iPhone XS with the latest iOS.
Hi Katie,
We tested this project on an iOS device and were not able to reproduce this behavior, however we didn't have access to an iPhone XS, so the test device was slightly different than yours.
One possibility is that at some point the app settings determining how Survey123 links are opened were set to always open in Safari. You could test this by uninstalling the Survey123 app, restarting the device, and reinstalling the Survey123 app, which should reset those settings.
Have you seen this behavior on other iOS devices or just the iPhone XS? Also which version of Workforce are you using?
Thanks,
-Barbara
This issue has been identified across iPads, so far reproduced in iOS 12.x, 13.x, 14.x, and submitted as the following defect:
BUG-000135525 - "Workforce / Survey123 integration: When using Workforce on an iPad, "Survey at Assignment" prompts the default browser rather than the Survey123 mobile app"
This issue looks to be occurring for any type of Workforce > Survey123 integration designed in the Workforce web designer and occurs in both classic and new versions of the Workforce mobile app on iPads.
@Anonymous User I've noted the that the issue is also reproducible on an iPhone XS in your instance. Can you confirm this still occurs at iOS 14? Have you been able to reproduce on any other devices? All our testing on iPhones so far has failed to replicate the issue.
Thank you.
Hi, I have been using Survey123, workforce and navigator on my Samsung S8 for the last 3 years and did not get the bug listed above. We have started to use the iPhone XR as a work phone, again this bug does not occur. I tried downloading the apps to my personal iPhone 12pro and I when I try "Survey at Assignment" or "Navigate to assignment" the default browser opens up rather than Survey123 app or the Navigator app. All apps on the iphone 12 pro were downloaded about 1 week ago and we are using the new version of workforce. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue? Thanks Melissa
My iPhone 12 pro is an iOS 14.3
Hi @MelissaCook ,
I'm also using an iPhone 12 Pro and am not seeing this issue at all...
Are you using "ArcGIS Workforce" ? (as opposed to "Workforce for ArcGIS")
The older version of the application may still be affected by this issue.
Also, what is the default browser on your phone? Have we tried changing this and replicating?
Hi Glen, We use "ARCGIS Workforce", not classic. Default browser is explorer. I was operating on iOS 14.3 and just updated to iOS 14.4 today and now the issue is gone! Which is great!! We have also have an iPhone XR on iOS 13.6.1 that we are testing on with no issues but we are going to see what happens when the software is upgraded to 14.4. Most of the work phones we use are Samsung S8-10's with no issues.
Great to hear! And thank you for letting us know that this seems to occur at 14.3
Please feel free to update us on this thread with your testing on the iPhone XR
