Is there any way or future enhancement to allow users of mobile devices to turn on/off layers of change the base map of the Worker Map?
Hello Carl, thanks for your question on Workforce.
The ability to turn layers on/off and to switch basemaps is in our backlog for Workforce and we do plan to support it at a release in 2017.
Craig
Is this functionality still in the backlog? When will it be available?
Thanks,
Michelle
Hi Michelle,
This is in our backlog and on our roadmap. Unfortunately, we were not able to get to it in 2017 but I'm hoping we can target a release in 2018 for it.
Can you provide any details or use cases on why this ability is needed? I know that controlling the visibility of layers is a common task in mobile apps; but one thing we've found with Workforce is that, since the Workforce Projects are geared towards specific types of work, the need to control the visibility of layers is not as much a priority as other apps.
If this is something you'd like to take offline; feel free to DM and we can discuss.
thanks for your feedback,
Craig
Thanks Craig,
We have one assignment type called Locates but these locates can come from different utilities in the city. Today we added the underground Fiber network to the Light Operations map so when the crew is in the field they can use one map for locates and see both Fiber and Light data. In this case it would be nice to turn these layers off and on so the map isn't too busy.
Hello Craig,
Is there an update on this? is it now possible to turn layers on and off in the workforce app?
Kerr,
The ability to toggle layers on and off is in our current development branch for Workforce and is scheduled for our next release along with support for Offline.
Craig
Thanks for the quick response. Can you give me a time frame of when to expect the next release?
Kerr, we've been targeting Q2, 2019 for it but it will be later in Q2 and may slip to Q3.
Craig
We are deploying the Workforce for Field Data Collection, and the Layers with Basemap are a constant debt to our deployment with our users. This backlog started in 2016 and we are near the end of 2Q20. Is there any realistic projection on when these features will actually become available in Workforce?
