I'm creating a Silverlight web map that is restricted for internal use within our department.  The map service contains sensitive datasets that cannot be published to the public.  Is there a way to make a map service not viewable to the public yet have it accessible for the Silverlight web map?  In the past, I experimented with enabling securities for map services within ArcGIS Server, but that caused all kinds of problems in the Flex web app since many widgets do not work with the secure map service.

How well does the Silverlight Viewer work with secure map services?

Hi Stephanie,

You can add secured services via a Proxy Url as described  [url=http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/silverlightviewer/help/index.html#/Adding_secured_services/0177000...]. Note, though, that secured basemaps and geoprocessing services are not supported. Let us know if there is a specific issue you run in to with using any of the tools with secured services.

Are we going to see secured GP services available with the 10.1 release?
