Hey ESRI,

I noticed a blog posting this afternoon regarding the Flex Viewer, and other various posts about Flex, JavaScript, etc....over the past month or to.  I realize you are busy with the new .NET SDK, etc...but us Silverlight folks sure could use something to chew on.  Any updates in the works?

Hi Jason:

We're currently working on the next release of the Viewer and API.  It should be out before the end of the year, and we're actually aiming for quite a bit sooner than that.

Rich - Any chance we can get a update on what new features will be included with the new release? Glad to hear Esri is still developing this product.

Hi Dan:

The upcoming release will include a new Query Tool, support for URL parameters (e.g. to start a Viewer app at a certain extent or location), and enhanced support for secured ArcGIS for Portal content and federated services.  On the localization front, a whole bunch of new languages are in the pipeline.  And last but not least, the release will also include a bunch of bug fixes.

Any chance that identifying on an ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer with layer definition is one of the bugs fixed or being worked on? Identify currently doesn't honor the layer definition. Thanks..

Hi Brian:

Yes, we should be able to get this fixed - there are several bugs related to the on-click pop-ups not respecting layer configurations that we're working on.

Any new features expected such as drawing and zoom tools?  Kind of surprised drawing and navigation tools haven't been introduced, especially since users are using these applications out in the field.
