I am trying to manually map the geometric network of sewer network with Utility network, but there are some geometric network feature classes i dont know what to assign them for the asset group and asset type.

the geometric network feature classes,

1. Diesel generator sewer (pt)

2.head shaft (pt)

3.Inclusion point sewer network.(pt)

4.Release Point sewer (pt)

5.Terminal Chamber (pt)

6.ventilating column (pt)

7.Compressed air pipe (line).

If you could help me pick the correct asset group and type, it would be much helpful, because i am unable to find an SME for sewer and also if anyone who had worked in sewer utility network would be much helpful.

Hi Angie,

These appear to be related to vertical assets. Esri's foundational model is directed more toward the linear assets and so you'd need to extend the model to include these. The only ready match I see is Release Point sewer -> Sewer Device/Outlet/Effluent Discharge.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Thank You Mike I think right now i can do is add these assets in the Domain. Since I cant be waiting for the next release of the versions.

Hello,
I don't know if I'm writing in the right place.
I am doing a mapping and some objects I don't know how to transfer them to the network utility:
I have some problems in the translation:
-Pipe with siphon (u trap or v-trap), both for sewer network and laterals (Florence siphon). This item could be this one proposed by UN for sewer: fitting Weld? with definition: “A weir with a ‘V’ shape to minimize the flow of a bioswale or open channel”?
-septic tank, could I use a Baffle Chamber?

Sorry if i didn't write in the right place
and thanks to those who will answer me
thank you
Sandro

Sifone Firenze, installed on the lateral for to stop odors and gases from the sewer

"Fossa Biologica" is a Septik Tank

You might need to come at it from, what those features actually needs to do in you UN.

e.g.

Are any of them directional? then they need to be devices with a directional terminal configuration

If your network is sink based, then you need to consider if those assets are sink points, they may also need to be Devices assigned as subnetwork controllers

Does Sewer flow through that asset? or does it only support the network, the structure domain might be a better fit unless you need trace connectivity through the supporting asset.

Are they just a point at the end of a line with no real impact on flow? then Sewer Junction would be a good fit.

I would probably do something like:

  • Diesel generator sewer (pt)
    • Structure Junction
  • 2.head shaft (pt)
    • Not sure what this really represents , but probably Sewer Device with directional terminal assignment
  • 3.Inclusion point sewer network.(pt)
    • Sewer Junction / Device
  • 4.Release Point sewer (pt)
    • Sewer Junction (unless subnetwork controller or directionality required, then device)
  • 5.Terminal Chamber (pt)
    • Sewer Junction (unless subnetwork controller or directionality required, then device)
  • 6.ventilating column (pt)
    • Sewer Junction or Structure Junction
  • 7.Compressed air pipe (line).
    • Structure Line
