With the new Telecom Domain coming next year for ArcGIS Utility Network, we have compiled documents that outline both technology drivers and business drivers for this enhancement. These documents are intended to improve understanding around the Telecom Domain and zero in on the value it offers to organizations.

The Technology Value document is intended for anyone who wants to better understand the specific enhancements from a technical perspective (i.e., grouping, tracing, and circuit management). We had in mind GIS Technicians and Analysts who need to communicate with their teams exactly what the new capabilities will bring and why they are important to operational processes, however, it will be beneficial to anyone who needs to understand these concepts better.

The Business Value document is intended for those who need to understand and communicate the new capabilities from a business and organizational view. Essentially, this document is an endeavor to answer what is the ROI and how can organizations improve their business processes utilizing this technology. It goes beyond the technical elements and looks more closely at how it helps performance, integration, and collaboration as well answering challenges specific to the Telecom industry. This document was written with the GIS Managers and Engineers in mind who need to understand and effectively communicate to upper management why this technology would be beneficial to the business and should be implemented. It will be helpful to anyone who wants a deeper understanding of how an organization can benefic from ArcGIS Utility Network Telecom Domain when it is released.

These documents are merely guides and starting points for consideration as our community begins to embrace Telecom Domain. We hope they will be helpful as preparatory tools or to have in hand during meetings and discussions around this new component of the existing utility network technology.
