I have noticed, just today, that all of my S123 reports that use the checked / checkbox option are not rendering at all when the PDF option is chosen. Example, ${EXT_GENCOND | checked:"ACCEPTABLE"}.
This just started happening today and all of my various reports are acting the same way so it is not on the report template side.
When I choose the DOCX option it works fine.
This is not a workaround that I want to deal with as I have many power automate flows that need to have the reports sent out as a PDF.
Solved! Go to Solution.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. It took us some time to investigate the issue and configure the environment, and this is the earliest deployment time we can arrange.
We will add automated tests for DOCX-to-PDF generation to help prevent similar issues from happening again.
Currently, the workaround is to generate the report in DOCX format instead of PDF.
Thanks,
Ruth
This is an unacceptable timeline... This feature not working is akin to the entire service being down. This needs to be fixed ASAP...
As has already been mentioned, we use this feature in our feature reports. With hundreds of reports per day across numerous feature reports, it isn't reasonable to regenerate reports or fix all affected feature reports. In addition to needing this patched sooner, can we please also get a response on why this slow of a timeline was chosen? 1-week is a very long time.
Hi @abureaux ,
We are sorry the delay. The deployment involved coordination across different teams and testing to ensure the fix does not introduce regressions. In addition, the holidays last week slowed down communication and testing efforts. We have discussed this issue internally to ensure faster deployment of fixes.
Thanks,
Ruth
(Note that I accepted Ruth's original response as the Answer to this question as it both contains the cause, solution, and the fix is now live thus the original question has been resolved)
Thank you for the clarity and insight. Additionally, it is good to hear that there has been some internal discussion regarding future actioning of issues.
Also, thank you to the dev team (who I'm sure were also a little panicked behind the scenes).
Hi Ruth,
Please note that this behavior is not limited to the "checked" and "selected" expression methods. The Portable Document Format (.pdf) is not rendering characters (checked and uncheck box) even when manually entered in the template as text and could affect more characters than those referenced here. Please confirm that the fix includes these cases as well.
I am in a similar boat as the others, we use these reports for time urgent information. A 6-day report outage has critical impacts.
Re-test it with fonts embedded (File>Options>Save, scroll to the bottom and check the embed font option and uncheck the other 2 related options (see my screen shot). I've gotten into this habit because the report previews do not render correctly without this option checked.
@Ruth_JiatengXu can you confirm Esri has tested this fix with and without embedded fonts in the report template?
They actually fixed that a while back! You no longer need to embed "common" fonts (like Aerial, and no special characters from the Character Map) for most things. Embedding fonts massively increases file size, so I've personally moved away from it where I could to cut down on storage costs.
We're also having this issue with a critical process. Would love if this is resolved ASAP!
Also following, we're having this issue with critical reports including those for safety incidents.
