I need to recover some data deleted from AGOL by mistake, does anyone know how I can do this?
It's not directly possible. ArcGIS Online does not have a recycling bin currently. Focus is on delete protection and regular backups. There is a recycling bin coming - they announced it for October but pushed it back to Feb 2024.
You can reach out to technical support. They may be able to recover the bare geometry and attribute data for a feature service. However, it won't have photos, and may not be up to date - potentially a time from the last month. They also have no obligation and may just refuse your request. So give it a go but keep your expectations low.
There is no backups in AGOL at all which is of course super weird for a enterprise level system.
I run batch file jobs each night to make backups. See here https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-survey123-questions/backup-survey-123-feature-layer/m-p/1041504
So weird.I've been checking the blog, but can't find any good details on the Recycle Bin. I can only find the old emails I received on the topic. But the feature is at least planned. Just need them to roll out to Enterprise after AGO!
Here is the email for reference:
On September 25, 2023, you received an email titled, “Recycle Bin Functionality Is Coming to ArcGIS Online.” The email detailed that after the update on October 25, 2023, between 5:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. (PT), ArcGIS Online will include a recycle bin feature. This email is to notify you that the recycle bin will not be a part of the October 2023 update of ArcGIS Online and is now planned for the February 2024 update.
Adding a recycle bin is one of the most popular enhancement requests from the ArcGIS Online user community, so we know this may be disappointing. However, there is good news: with this delay, our team will be adding key features that our early adopters have told us must be included to truly meet the community’s needs. These enhancements include tools for organization administrators to manage how organization members use the recycle bin.
In this interim period before the recycle bin is available, it is important to remember that Esri remains dedicated to upholding international privacy and security standards, including ensuring that data owners have control over when and what information should be deleted. Esri does not retain user content after it is deleted and cannot accommodate requests to recover deleted items or data. You can find more information about ownership and retention practices in the ArcGIS Trust Center.
Thank you for supporting the ArcGIS Online community with your ideas and feedback; we look forward to sharing the recycle bin you’ve been waiting for in just a few short months.
I think this will only be to recover an entire service that got deleted however. I believe you will not be able to roll back record deletes or bring up older copies of the data like a normal backup. "Esri does not retain user content after it is deleted and cannot accommodate requests to recover deleted items or data. "
So may not help the poster.
That was my thought as well. But, I haven't actually seen this feature yet.
If it does work like SharePoint, we will be able to restore deleted records as well, which would be amazing.
Hello,
The Imagem support team (esri Brazil) managed to recover the data. Since its origin was from Survey123. Now I'm searching for the devices and sending the data through the Survey123 desktop.
