Microsoft ending Excel support in the next 1-2 year

With Microsoft ending support for Excel within the next 1-2 years, what will happen to Survey123 Connect? Does Esri have plans to allow this to work with different programs, such as Google Sheets?

Is it true that Microsoft is ending support for Excel? A quick search showed that they are discontinuing support for Excel 2016 and 2019 and that MS Office is changing to MS 365, but didn't see indication that Microsoft is fully discontinuing Excel. I can't imagine MS would discontinue one of their flagships - I hope that's not true!

I also panic-searched for this and came up with the same result. Their end-of-support list doesn't include Office 21, and in either case Excel seems like way too much of a brand-standard to get rid of it.
