Line and polygon questions reverting to "do not store the answer"

A couple of my surveys (created using web designer) that contain line or polygon map questions are having intermittent issues of not recording geometry for submitted features.
When I go to troubleshoot, I'll see that the "do not store the answer" setting is checked. I'll uncheck that setting, save, publish survey. It may work for a while, but then the setting will change itself back to checked.
Is there a solution or workaround to this issue???
