Hi, hope u are doing okay.

I’m reaching out regarding an issue reported by one of our clients related to the generation of PDF reports from Survey123 using a Power Automate flow.

The client has a workflow where a job is first created to generate the PDF, and once the job status returns as "Ok", the PDF is then downloaded. This is done through Power Automate by calling endpoints.

Up until June 26th, this process would usually complete in about 30 seconds. Since then, the job status no longer reaches "Ok". Initially, the flow waited up to 5 minutes, and then they increased the wait time to 15 minutes, but the job remains stuck in "executing", and the report is never generated.

The flow hasn't been modified during this period, and they’ve confirmed the issue persists consistently. I've attached a screenshot from their logs showing how long the process used to take before this change.

Could you please help us understand what might be causing this issue? Is anyone else experiencing the same behavior? And could it be that the recent update has introduced a bug or caused this unexpected behavior?

Best regards,
Pili

Hey @PilarBravoViñuales

From what you're describing, the June 26th time fits well around the time were the ArcGIS Online update could have caused an issue in your flow here. Is there any troubleshooting information that is being given from the Survey123 instance or Power Automate? Also, on Power Automate, are you able to enter a running flow and see where the flow is halting at?

If it's halting at an ESRI process, it may be best to reach out to ESRI support to see if your flow is still supported, something may have changed and at worst a bug report could be created and they would investigate!

First thing is first. Are you using the new ArcGIS connectors, and did you remember to refresh them? They timeout after 2 weeks and need to be refreshed to work. Other than that, I highly recommend using them as they work very will and have been getting better.

Second, assuming this isn't a full outage, similar to what may be happening today, and is in fact a transient issue...

I am currently tracking an intermittent/transient issue with the report generation service. Symptoms include:

  • The service goes down for a short period of time (e.g., 30 minutes to 2 hours)
  • The service returns fully functional with no interference on your end
  • Some reports can squeeze through (so it's not a total outage).

The case is #03926058, and is still actively being investigated.

So ya, hard to say the cause. But as this post is from yesterday, and I didn't experience any real outages yesterday, it could be an environment-specific thing. But there is a chance it was related to the case I have referenced above.

Hey, thank you both so much for your time and for your responses @abureaux  @CodyPatterson  I've passed the information along to the colleague who’s handling the client to see if it's related to what you mentioned.

Have a great day :)!
